While Everyone Watched Ethereum, a 2-Month-Old Chain Just Did $1.49B in DEX Volume

Robinhood's chain is two months old and already beating Ethereum in daily DEX volume — and most of crypto Twitter still hasn't noticed.

The Arbitrum-based Robinhood Chain ranked second among all blockchains by decentralized exchange volume over the past 24 hours, clocking $1.49 billion in trades. That puts it ahead of Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Base — networks that have been running for years, some for nearly a decade.

Let that sink in. A retail brokerage app launched a chain, and within 60 days it is processing more DEX volume than the chain that invented DEX trading.

The Launchpad Nobody Knew Was Printing Money

The volume story is only half of it. Robinhood Chain's memecoin launchpad, Pons, captured two-thirds of all launchpad fees on the network. More striking: Pons is earning almost three times what pump.fun generates in fees right now.

pump.fun became a cultural phenomenon. It was the memecoin factory that defined an entire market cycle. Pons is a platform most people learned about this week, and it is already lapping the legend.

This is not a fluke metric from a low-liquidity day. A chain processing $1.49 billion in DEX volume has real traders moving real capital through it. The fee comparison with pump.fun confirms the activity is sticky, not just bot-inflated noise.

Why This Changes the Layer 2 Conversation

Base took months to gain traction after Coinbase launched it. Robinhood Chain appears to have short-circuited that adoption curve entirely, likely by funneling its existing retail user base directly into on-chain activity. Robinhood reported over 24 million funded accounts as of its last earnings report. If even a fraction of those users touched the chain, the volume numbers start to make sense.

Building on Arbitrum rather than spinning up a new execution environment also meant Robinhood inherited existing tooling, liquidity bridges, and developer familiarity from day one. That is the real unlock here: distribution plus infrastructure, combined faster than anyone expected.

What to Watch

If Robinhood Chain sustains top-three DEX volume for another week, expect every major CEX to accelerate its own chain roadmap. Coinbase has Base. Robinhood now has this. The next question is which exchange moves next, and whether Ethereum's core developers start treating retail-native L2s as a growth engine rather than just a scaling solution.

Traders holding Arbitrum ecosystem tokens should be paying close attention. A rising tide of volume on an Arbitrum chain is not guaranteed to lift ARB directly, but the narrative pressure building here is real and it is early.
