Uniswap's Memecoin Launchpad Opened Late, But $FRONG Was Minted 6 Days Early
A memecoin named after a frog teaser video is sitting at a $12.1 million valuation on Uniswap's brand-new launchpad — and it was minted six full days before the platform even went live.
Uniswap Labs quietly shipped a memecoin launchpad on Robinhood's blockchain, and the launch itself was already a mess before anyone could trade. Pools opened four and a half hours behind the platform's own countdown clock. For a product built on trustless, precise, on-chain execution, that is not a great first impression.
But the countdown delay is the boring part.
The lead token on the platform, $FRONG, a frog-themed memecoin named after the teaser video Uniswap used to promote the product, was minted six days before the launchpad officially opened. That kind of early minting is exactly what retail traders should be asking hard questions about. Who had access? Who was positioned before the doors opened to the public? On a memecoin launchpad, where timing is essentially everything, a six-day head start is not a footnote.
Uniswap Labs has been careful with its language here. The company claims full ownership of the product itself while simultaneously disclaiming every single token listed on it, including $FRONG. That is a legally convenient position. Build the casino, disclaim the chips.
The launchpad runs on the Unichain deployment tied to Robinhood's blockchain infrastructure, which immediately puts this in front of a much larger potential retail audience than most DeFi products ever reach. Robinhood has tens of millions of users. A memecoin launchpad sitting inside that distribution pipeline is not a small experiment.
That reach is exactly why the $FRONG situation matters more than it would on any random L2. If millions of retail users eventually flow into this product, the tokens they encounter first, the ones minted early and sitting at the top with manufactured valuations, are the ones most likely to extract value from latecomers.
Uniswap built the infrastructure. They do not control what gets launched on it. That is the whole point of permissionless systems. But permissionless does not mean consequence-free, and disclaimers do not protect retail traders who do not read them.
What to watch: If $FRONG continues climbing from its $12.1 million valuation, it will pull attention and liquidity toward the launchpad broadly. Watch for Uniswap to clarify the early minting circumstances. If they stay silent, that silence is itself information. Traders eyeing any new token on this platform should treat early-minted, top-listed tokens as the highest-risk positions on the board until proven otherwise.
