RLUSD Just Lost Nearly a Third of Its XRPL Supply, and the Market Isn't Reacting the Way You'd Expect

RLUSD's supply on the XRP Ledger collapsed by 29%, yet the primary XRP/RLUSD trading pool barely moved. That disconnect is the story nobody is talking about right now.

On-chain ledger readings confirm the supply drop is real. Funded offers within the pool show uneven distribution, and pool reserves have remained largely stable despite the headline number screaming otherwise. In normal markets, a 29% supply contraction on a stablecoin tied to a major ledger would trigger immediate repricing, panic, or at minimum, visible liquidity shifts. None of that happened here.

So what actually caused the supply decline?

That part remains unanswered. CryptoSlate's analysis of the ledger data could not resolve the root cause. That ambiguity alone should put RLUSD watchers on high alert. When you can see the what clearly but not the why, you are either looking at a routine redemption event, a coordinated withdrawal by a large holder, or something that hasn't surfaced publicly yet.

The pool stability adds another layer of confusion. If 29% of supply evaporated, liquidity providers should have felt that. The fact that the XRP/RLUSD pool held its shape suggests the removed supply was never actively deployed in trading activity to begin with. It was sitting somewhere else, possibly in reserve wallets, institutional custody, or off-ledger positions that simply do not touch the open pool.

That interpretation carries its own implications. If RLUSD supply on XRPL is being held in concentrated, inactive positions, then the circulating liquidity picture looks very different from the raw supply number. Traders pricing RLUSD utility based on total supply figures may be working with a misleading baseline.

Ripple has been pushing RLUSD aggressively as a payments-grade stablecoin with real institutional backing. A sudden 29% supply drop with no public explanation does not fit cleanly into that narrative. It does not confirm anything is wrong either, but in crypto, unexplained on-chain moves at this scale deserve a second look before the crowd moves on.

What to watch: Monitor whether the XRP/RLUSD pool depth changes in the next 48 to 72 hours. If liquidity starts thinning after holding steady, the supply drop may finally be hitting active markets with a delay. Also watch for any official communication from Ripple on RLUSD redemption activity. Silence here is itself a signal worth tracking.
